For generations, Palauans have faced a difficult choice: stay close to family, culture, and community, or leave in search of opportunity. As young people depart for Guam, Hawaii, and other parts of the United States, Palau loses more than workers. It loses future leaders, future parents, future storytellers, and future stewards of a culture that has endured for thousands of years.
In a place where the village remains the center of life, that loss is felt for generations.
Lelly was founded by Nelly Roach because she believed there should be another path.
After leaving Palau at a young age, Nelly experienced many of the opportunities that exist beyond the islands, but she also understood the tradeoff. Too often, building a career meant building it somewhere else. Families were separated. Communities changed. Young people were asked to choose between opportunity and belonging.
Over time, Nelly became convinced that they were never meant to be mutually exclusive. That conviction became the foundation of Lelly.
Why Lelly?
The name Lelly was a grandmother’s name for her granddaughter. Something personal. Something cherished. Something entrusted from one generation to the next.
That spirit lives at the heart of the company.
Inspired by a culture where women have long served as stewards of land, family, and legacy, Lelly honors the traditions that have shaped Palau while embracing the opportunities of a connected world.
